PouchAs far as packaging goes, we’ve seen a resurgence of the pouch for food and drink. No longer is the pouch equivalent to the juice box. Instead, it’s a great way to keep coconut water, yogurt, and even wine fresh. It’s likely that it will soon be seen in the personal care industry, though it’s currently popular for one-time use samples.

According to an article on CosmeticsDesign.com, global production levels of pouch packaging are roughly at 324 billion for 2016 but is expected to grow to 407 billion in just five years.

Why Pouches?

Technological advances have allowed us to create better quality pouches, which is a big reason we’ve been seeing them lately. Pouches provide a great number of benefits to cosmetics companies. These include:

  • Environmentally conscious
  • Lightweight
  • Durable
  • Airtight
  • Great design options
  • Shelf appeal

Although they can currently be difficult to recycle, pouches make great alternatives to metal or glass in other ways. For example, they’re so much lighter that they require less energy during transport.
