What better career move for a band with millions of female fans than to come out with a line of makeup? That’s exactly what English-Irish pop band One Direction plans to do with a line set to debut at Macy’s on August 10.
The range of makeup will include eye shadow, nail polish, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, and lip gloss — all in limited edition packaging. In fact, the entire product will be housed in a collectible, keep-sake One Direction tin. Undoubtedly, teenage girls will be dying to get their hands on those collectibles.
One Direction member Niall Horan tweeted about the quality of the products, saying “Just had a great meeting about 1D make up! It’s that good I’m gonna start wearing it myself.” He also tweeted a picture of his hands covered in makeup and his nails painted.
1D Packaging
The packaging is inspired by the band’s hit songs like “Midnight Memories,” “Up All Night,” and “Take Me Home.” One unique product is the lip gloss, which features a formula that sparkles in the sunlight then glows under UV lights in the dark. Primarily, the packaging is black and gray in a brick pattern.
The press release for this product describes the line as “fun, bold, and a tad mischievous,” much like the band members themselves.
