models on runwayIn the fashion industry, there are few times more exciting than New York Fashion Week (NYFW). And this year, audiences haven’t just been focused on the clothes and models. Cosmetics are what completes the look and creates the atmosphere a designer is aiming for. This year, cosmetics are getting the attention they deserve.

Here are just a few of the statements making headlines:

Deconstructed Eyes

A popular look at NYFW was to ditch the traditional cat eye liner. Instead, artists extended and discontinued lines, added color, and a number of other actions to create an unexpected look. This was especially evident in the Jason Wu show, makeup by Maybelline New York.

Watercolors

Aveda was responsible for both hair and makeup during the A Detacher presentation. Aiming for a bold look, makeup artists used bright pigmented colors applied by fingertip to create a watercolor eye.

Textured Hair

Morrocanoil was used in the Veronica Beard presentation to embrace every woman’s natural locks. Curly, wavy, and textured hair was encouraged and paired with the Fall 2018 collection called Denim & Diamonds. The collection is said to be inspired by Dallas in the 1980s.
