Eye ShadowWith 2017 coming to a close, it’s time to start considering how the industry will change over the next year. We’ve done some research into what major industry players are gearing up to release in 2018 and have some trend predictions to share.

Keep an eye out for the following in 2018.

1. Eco-Friendly Cosmetics & Packaging

Consumers are no longer just interested in the product, they want to invest in a brand that they feel has their best interest at heart and is working to better the world. Brands who take the extra step to protect the environment will likely see a boost in the coming year.

2. Products Doing Double-Duty

It’s not difficult to look around and notice that people seemed to be more pressed for time than ever. Products that allow consumers to multi-task, such as skin cosmetics that can conceal and reduce fine lines, will be quickly added to the arsenal of any on-the-go user.

3. No More “Mass Market” Appeal

Beauty is becoming more individualized. It’s becoming more difficult to market a product toward a particular age group, demographic, or even gender. Consumers are no longer interested in the one-size-fits-all solution, so you’re likely to see more personalized beauty products in 2018.

4. More Natural Foundations

You may be surprised to know that many industry leaders are expecting the heavy contour and highlight trend to stay in 2017. Instead, it’s expected that consumers will begin to celebrate unique complexions. It’s predicted that foundation lines will release more shades, catering to users who have previously been in-between colors and allow them to use less.

5. Brands Embracing Active Beauty

A major marketing gap in the market has been found in the pre and post gym beauty routine. According to Harper’s Bazaar, most women don’t know which products to use for exercise-related skin problems like redness or clogged pores. Sweat resistant and breathable products will aim to make you feel beautiful and confident during workouts.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2018!
